Vintage Finds - Rings

Of every piece of jewelry and every kind rings are by far and away my favorite.  Seems silly that I only own less than one handful and only two are made of real gold.  Pathetic!  When I went looking for some antique rings it struck me how many there actually are!  I only searched a few pages and found about 10 I fell in love with immediately.  Wow.   Here are just a few, and there are a ton more.  I'll keep adding them to my Pinterest account too.

This first one is my fav and I didn't even find it!  nd+ was the one I found it from.  And I think you can find the ring here.

Found in this lovely shop that has a TON more vintage rings.

This one looks so darn delicate!  The detail is stunning. Can be found here.

Love this, lots of detail, stands out!  Get it here.

Classic 20's.  Simple but beautiful.  Get it here.

Really pretty and I imagine not for the average girl, probably had to be well-to-do to have this. Get it here.

I think I've added enough :)  I will be adding lots more to my pinterest account as there are gobs more to drool over.  I've even created their own section!
Note:  I am NOT an expert, have no training or specific knowledge of antiques or vintage.  I just like old stuff and pick out things I think are pretty.  I do not know one person I've featured on the blog and cannot state whether they are reputable or if they are selling reproductions or the like.  Just FYI for you guys :)

It's LATE darn it!

Vintage Finds will be up on Friday!!!

First Collaborations

For awhile I've had an idea in my head, and for awhile means a very long time.  I've wanted to work with an artist using original ACEOs for the covers of my journals and notebooks.  I found one that is actually very close to me personally.  My 17 year old niece Devorah Bradley.  She really has such a talent for art!  And in all forms, not just one or two mediums.  I've purchased a few of her works and have put together two notebooks using them.  They make the perfect desk companion, gift, organizer, sketchbook, idea starter, and so much more!  And even better, with the purchase part of the proceeds go to Devorah to help her with her dream of studying art in Italy when she graduates!

The first one I did I am absolutely in love with.  The look on her face just speaks to me for some reason.

Here is where you can find Gloomy Girl and all the specs about it.  Or just click on the first picture.  The second notebook will be posted tomorrow, and it couldn't be more different than this one!  Perfect for the girlie girl princess in all of us.

Winter is here!

My Brand new Birds and Snowflakes envelope seals have already been featured in a treasury!  Thank You Marta!

Are you hampering your creativity?

I'm not sure why I've been thinking about my creative process so much.   Maybe sometimes I feel overwhelmed with too many ideas, not enough time, and what will be the most successful.

There are so many variables that can hamper your creative side.  Make sure in your business plan that you have room for "inspiration".  You can plan out everything, but if you don't leave a spot open how can you expand creatively?  Give yourself some leeway for new supplies that you may not normally purchase for when that new idea you have needs room to grow!

For artists and crafters there's no quicker way to deaden yourself, burn out, or get in a rut if your business plan doesn't include changing and evolving.  Also ask other people you respect and trust for their opinions.  If you paint, ask other artists, if you crochet ask others, or family, or even your customers,  it's a great way to weed out some things and focus on the better ideas.  With creativity sometimes we internalize it so much, it sticks and stays in your head that you don't always look at the whole picture.  It helps to have someone on the outside look at it.

TAB- You're It

I've been wanting to make these for so long- and the time is here!  Kraft Paper File Tabs that are stickers!  No glue or anything needed.  Just peel off the back and stick on whatever you want!  Whoo hoo, I can't wait to use them myself!

I've made them in 3 shapes.  Scroll, Traditional, and Semicircle.  And I'll have the envelope seals in the shop very soon too. I used them to seal the printed glassine bags these will come in.  Here are a couple close ups.

Crazy Hair Day

Front, what a cutie pie!
I really love the spirit weeks and drug awareness days at school.  They have to wear uniforms all the time and it gets boring for them, so it's extra special when they get to break out of routine and do silly fun things.  Today is crazy hair day.  Kayc didn't know what she wanted to do, I made a few suggestions and she wasn't impressed.  But when I mentioned a bazillion little flowers she wanted to know what I was talking about.  So I showed her my bags of flowers and she picked pink.  We set to bobby pinning over 60 little flowers in her hair and while we were doing it she said, "Mom, I really love your scrapbooking stuff.  It's always so much fun, we use it for everything."  Makes me happy :)  We would have done more, but we ran out of time.  Here is her finished do for school.
Her BFF with their crazy hair.

Top looking down
